ULTRASONIC TESTING EQUIPMENT

Portascanner®

The portable ultrasonic water/weather/gas-tight integrity test indicator from Coltraco Limited, UK

For Hatch-covers, Watertight Compartment Doors, Cable Transits etc

Portascanner® is used by shipping companies and marine surveyors globally for identifying leak sites in any critical watertight, airtight or weather tight seals, most notably for use in checking the hatch-covers, which is vital for the safety of the cargo, crew and vessel. By using Portascanner® ultrasonic technology, testing can be done before or after loading and unloading, thereby saving time and costs. Typical vessel types include:

Bulk carriers
General cargo vessels
Reefers, Ferries, Cruise vessels & Ro-Ro vessels

It is used for 3 main reasons

SAFETY

As part of an increased safety and preventative maintenance regime to check all watertight compartments, hatch-covers and cable transit areas to ensure total integrity.

EFFICIENCY

To replace costly and time consuming chalk or pressure testing with a quick and easy means of checking seals.

ACCURACY

To have reliable, definitive results shown via three different mediums - audible readings, visual bar graph and numerical values to indicate the extent of a leak.
